Isis April

GODDESS OF THE MONTH: Isisisis2.jpg

Known for: Patron saint of women, mothers and children.

Origin: Egypt

What’s her story? Isis Panthea (“Isis the All Goddess”) was considered the greatest goddess of Egypt, and was also worshipped throughout the Greco-Roman world. Early Christians called themselves Pastophori, meaning the shepherds or servants of Isis, and images of Isis nursing Horus have been linked to the Madonna and Child. Isis was born to Geb (god of the Earth) and Nut (goddess of the Overarching Sky), but spent time among her people, teaching women how to grind corn, make bread, spin flax, weave cloth, and read. She is also famous for the use of her magical skills and medicine. She is depicted by the star Sirius, which is the star of the new year, thus was often connected with rebirth and reincarnation.

How can Isis help me during April? This Egyptian High Priestess can teach you a thing or two about how to tame men enough to live with them, and being a faithful wife and loving mother. She gently invites you to analyse your role as a mother, wife, partner or child, and offers assistance in conducting these relationships with ease and grace. Isis was known for her love and calm patience. Is that how the special people in your life view you?

Action plan:

* Isis relates to the third eye chakra, the psychic eye. Use a CD or book meditation to cleanse and open your chakras, paying particular attention to your third eye for intuition and perception. Ask Isis to assist you; place an amethyst crystal on your forehead for an extra boost!

* Isis is most often seen holding an ankh (the symbol for life). You can find ankhs in jewellery stores and charm stores. Wearing an ankh necklace will offer you Isis’ magical protection.
